Brian Harley, MD, FRCSC We are extremely fortunate to welcome Brian Harley, MD to LimbDifferences.org.  Dr. Harley has generously offered to contribute to LimbDifferences by answering the questions of members whose children have hand differences and may require surgery.  Dr. Harley is uniquely qualified to address your concerns based on both his personal as well as his professional experiences.

First and foremost, Dr. Harley is the parent of a child with a limb difference.  This offers him a very personal perspective which many of the doctors and professionals that we deal with do not possess.  In terms of his professional credentials, here is a brief synopsis:
  • Currently serving as Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY.
  • A member of the division of Hand Surgery, specializing in congenital and pediatric upper extremity problems.  Dr. Harley treats children with congenital upper extremity limb differences on a daily basis.
  • Education: Bachelor of Medical Sciences, University of Alberta 1993, Doctor of Medicine, University of Alberta Medical School, 1995.
  • Dr. Harley's post graduate training includes an Orthopedic Surgery Residency, a Hand Surgery Fellowship and a Fellowship in Congenital and Pediatric Hand Surgery.
